What is this programme about?  

KAR1SMA financial assistance for children of poor families is a monthly living wage to aid poor families to sustain the daily needs of the child/children under the age of 18. This aid programme is aimed at helping children from households living on monthly income below the defined the poverty line and also needy children with parents/guardians who are incapable of caring for them or who have lost their source of income due to weakness, disabilities, diseases or imprisonment.

Assistance: Monthly monetary aid
Income Group: Household income below Poverty Line and underprivileged families
Target Group: All poor Malaysian households
Aid amount:

RM100 per person per month
Maximum of RM450 per month per family (aid is for 
no more than 4 children per family)

Who can apply? 

General Eligibility Criteria

(Contact ministry/agency for all other requirements, if any)

  1. Malaysian citizen

  2. Resident in Malaysia

  3. Child/Children who are:- (a) Under the age of 18 years (or if the study until the end of upper secondary) (b) Orphaned child/children or whose parents or guardians are not able to afford proper care due to sickness, disability, or are being detained in prison or detention centres.

  4. Income group of family

Poor families of which some of the following factors and living conditions are taken into account:-

  • the number of children/dependents who live together and separately,

  • the level of disability of the head of family or family members,

  • support from family members the general financial position and the daily expenses of the applicant/family.

  • Monthly household income below the current the poverty line (check current Pendapatan Garis Kemiskinan (PGK))

Obtain application form  > Complete form > Submit with all documents

* Application forms can be obtained (i) online (ii) at any Social Welfare Office District/Province/divisions across the country

What documents do I need for application?

  1. Copy of the identity card (myKad) of the applicant 

  2. Copy of identity card/certificate of birth of family members who live with the applicant

  3. Income Statement or Letter of Confirmation from     (i) Employers/Income Declaration (ii) If Self-employed - Reports from other relevant agencies 

  4. Other income supporting documents (If any): Socso/Epf/Pension/Investment Book

  5. Copy of Utility Bill (Water/Electricity/Phone/Astro etc) 

  6. Completed application form
