What is this programme about?
Purpose of the Programme
The Peduli Kesihatan (PeKa B40) government healthcare aid programme, under the purview of the Ministry of Health (MoH) is a healthcare scheme providing financial subsidy to low-income Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSHR) 2019 recipients for a range of healthcare services. The MoH estimated that 800,000 BSH recipients will benefit from free health screenings, medical devices aid, financial assistance for cancer treatment and transport aid covered under this healthcare financial aid initiative.
Recipients of BSHR aged 50 and above, as well as their spouses, are automatically eligible to participate in the scheme with no required registration. The programme, with an initial allocation of RM100 million, will be implemented in stages starting March 2019.
The scheme is managed by the government corporation ProtectHealth Corp Sdn Bhd, a non-profit company set up under Ministry of Health (MoH). “It is 100%-owned by the government with the intention of improving healthcare services access for Malaysians.
