What is this programme about?

Purpose of the Programme

Skim Perlindungan Nasional B40 (mySalam) provides health insurance coverage for eligible low-income Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat 2019 (BSHR) recipients who seek treatment at government hospitals. The insurance covers the 36 critical illnesses which include cancer, heart attack and Alzheimer's. 


Recipients of the government's Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat 2019 (BSHR) between the ages of 18 and 55 are eligible for the scheme. Those who qualified for the scheme would be notified through the short messaging service (SMS). Claims can be submitted through the mySalam portal or at any Great Eastern offices in Malaysia.  


Recipients will receive a one-off payment of RM8,000 if they are diagnosed with one of the illnesses and in the event of hospitalisation, will also receive a daily income replacement payment of RM50 for up to 14 days. 
The scheme takes effect from Jan 1, 2019, and recipients can make their claims beginning March. The insurance coverage is for at least five years.

The benefits of the programme

  1. Subsidised annual health insurance premium of RM112 for five years.

  2. Upon diagnosing and hospitalisation for treatment, the eligible recipient will receive:-

  • A one-off payment of RM8,000.

  • A daily income replacement payment of RM50 for up to 14 days

 

Who can apply? 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Malaysian citizen.

  • Resident in Malaysia

  • Recipients of the government's Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat 2019 (BSHR)

  • Age 18 to 55
