What is this programme about?
Purpose of the Programme
The MoE Matriculation Programme is a subsidised preparatory programme to enable students with SPM certification to pursue a bachelor degree course in the fields of science, technology and literature at public universities.
The programme was initiated in 1998 to assist only Bumiputera school leavers. However, starting from the 2003/2004 session, the government has given the flexibility to allow 10% of non-bumiputera students to attend this programme. In 2018, the MoE announced that starting the 2018/19 session, an additional 400 matriculation spots will be allotted to Indian and 1,000 spots to Chinese students.
The two (2) semesters Pre-university Matriculation Programme is conducted at 15 matriculation colleges in Malaysia, and 2 selected MARA colleges.
